Abstract

Paraduodenal hernia is the most common form of congenital internal hernia with a high risk of progressing to intestinal obstruction and intestinal ischemia. Accurate preoperative diagnosis will help early intervention and appropriate management, reducing the patient's risk of recurrent intestinal obstruction. Computed tomography currently plays an essential role, with high accuracy in preoperative diagnosis of internal hernias, including paraduodenal hernias. We would like to present the case of a 50-year-old male patient with a history of recurrent abdominal pain who was admitted to the hospital because of severe abdominal pain and vomiting. He was diagnosed with small bowel obstruction due to paraduodenal hernia and had subsequent laparoscopic surgery to repair hernia at Huu Nghi hospital. The purpose of this article is to summarize the clinical features and images of intestinal obstruction due to paraduodenal hernia to help guide diagnosis and provide appropriate treatment methods.
