Abstract

Objective: Analyze the relationship between the 6-minute walk test and hospital readmission rate in outpatients with chronic heart failure at Duc Giang General Hospital in 2023. Subjects and methods: using the device descriptive design of longitudinal follow-up of 109 patients with chronic heart failure treated as outpatients who came for regular check-ups with indications to perform a 6-minute walk test from May 2023 to September 2023 at the Department of Cardiology - German General Hospital Giang. Results: 20.78% of patients experienced hospital readmission. Average readmission time for the overall group: 33.3 ± 14.0. The cutoff point of walking distance in the 6-minute walk test predicting hospital readmission within 90 days after discharge is 305 meters. The average readmission time of the group walking < 305 m was: 29.1 ± 12.0. The average hospital readmission time of the group walking ≥ 305 m was: 37.5 ± 16.0. Conclusion: The 6-minute walk test should be considered for outpatient heart failure patients who come for regular medical examinations to assess the level of exertion and advise patients on their living and labor regimen. daily. Furthermore, the 6-minute walk test has predictive value for 90-day hospital readmission due to heart failure.
