Abstract

Case report of a 101 year old patient with biliary tract infection due to intrahepatic stones and common bile duct stones. The computed tomography scan showed that the stones filled the posterior segment of the bile duct and part of the anterior segment, and the stones were in the common bile duct. The patient underwent percutaneous transhepatic lithotripsy with a holmium laser. After lithotripsy, cholangiography did not show any remaining stones. The patient showed clinical improvement and was discharged after 7 days of hospitalization. This clinical case shows the effectiveness and safety of percutaneous transhepatic lithotripsy in elderly patients with complications of acute cholangitis.
