STUDY ON SOME CLINICAL AND SUB-CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND RELATIONSHIP WITH AGE IN PATIENTS WITH DENGUE FEVER

Abstract

Objectives: To study on some clinical and laboratory characteristics and relationship with age in dengue hemorrhagic fever patients. Methods: Retrospective, descriptive, cross-sectional study on 309 dengue patients treated at Military Hospital 103 – Viet Nam Military Medical University from 2020 to 2023. Results: In theDengue hemorrhagic fever group with warning signs: average age (45.26±16.6 years), bleeding rate (37.7 %), HCT (0.44±0.06L/L); AST (149.9±102.9 U/L); ALT (88.8±66.97U/L), anti-DENV IgG positive rate (82.4%) were higher than that in the Dengue fever group, while platelet counts had lower values (28.6±29 G/L ). Dengue fever with warning signs is more common in the age group >30 years old than that in the age group≤30 years old. In patients with Dengue fever, the age group >30 years old had lower HCT and platelet counts, and higher rate of positive anti-DENV IgG tests compared to the group ≤30 years old. Conclusion: HCT, platelet counts, anti-DENV-IgG tests are related to severity and age in dengue patients.
