VALIDITY AND RELIABILITY OF THE QOLIE– 31 QUESTIONAIRE IN ASSESSING THE QUALITY OF LIFE OF EPILEPSY PATIENTS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: This study is to assess the reliability and validity of the QOLIE-31 questionnaire in assessing the quality of life of epilepsy patients. Research subjects and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study on 60 epilepsy patients at Bach Mai Hospital from July 2022 to September 2023. Results: Cronbach's Alpha coefficient of the entire scale is 0.903, the subscales range from 0.568 to 0.868. The variable-total correlation coefficient of all questions is > 0.3. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) of the total score was 0.83 with subscales ranging from 0.62 to 0.85. The Pearson correlation coefficient comparing the paired average scores of each subscale and the total QOLIE-31 score between two assessments is above 0.5 (p < 0.05) and the average difference between the scores between the two paired assessments was of no statistical meaning. There is a positive correlation between the QOLIE-31 total score and the WHOQOL-BREF total score per the equation: QOLIE-31 = 0.033 + 0.984 x WHOQOL-BREF, r = 0.985, p < 0.05. There is a strong positive correlation between the second time of QOLIE-31 total score and the WHOQOL-BREF total score per the equation: QOLIE-31 = 0.817 + 0.972 x WHOQOL-BREF, r = 0.982, p < 0.05. Conclusion: The Vietnamese translation of the QOLIE-31 questionnaire is a reliable and highly valid tool that has been proven by statistical data and is an effective measure to assess the quality of life of epilepsy patients.
