SELF-CARE OF THIRD-YEAR MEDICAL STUDENTS OF TRA VINH UNIVERSITY IN ACADEMIC YEAR 2023 – 2024

Abstract
Objective: To describe the situation along with the advantages and disadvantages of self-care practices of third-year medical students at Tra Vinh University. Method: A cross - sectional descriptive study. Results: Among self-care practices, the percentage of students reporting physical self-care was the highest percentage (79,7%), followed by emotional (68%), psychological (57,2%), social (51,4%) and spiritual accounted for the lowest proportion (27,9%). Advantaging factors of self-care process were applying knowledge to self-care (79,3%), seeking help from family, friends or others (49,6%; 45,1%; 30,1% respectively). Besides the advantages, students also had to face several difficulties such as experiencing stress from studying (66,7%), lacking time for self-care activities (55%), depending on family finance (52,7%), inappropriate living environment (25,2%). Coclustion: Physical self-care activities was the most common practice and mostly performed by students, compared to other self-care activities.
