INCIDENCE OF NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES IN HIV PATIENTS UNDER ARV TREATMENT AT THE OUTPATIENT CLINIC OF BEN CAT TOWN MEDICAL CENTER BINH DUONG PROVINCE IN 2023

Abstract

Background: HIV is an issue that is always of top concern to all departments and organizations, and improving the quality of life of HIV patients is always emphasized. Therefore, to improve the quality of life for HIV patients, screening for non-communicable diseases is necessary.Objective: Determine the incidence of dyslipidemia, diabetes, hypertension in HIV patients undergoing ARV treatment at Ben Cat Town Medical Center and some related factors.Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional.Results: Through research results of 758 HIV patients, the rates of hypertension, dyslipidemia, and diabetes in HIV-infected patients were 7.3% respectively; 43.4% and 7.8%. Some factors related to hypertension: age group (p<0.001), tobacco use (p=0.001), nutritional status (p<0.001). Some factors related to dyslipidemia: age group (p<0.001), tobacco use (p=0.001), alcohol abuse (p=0.002), nutritional status (p<0.001). Some factors related to diabetes include: age group (p=0.008), alcohol abuse (p=0.043), nutritional status (p=0.012). Conclusions: The rate of dyslipidemia  in HIV patients is quite high, the rate of hypertension and diabetes is average. In the age group > 40 years old, the group of patients  with overweight and obesity has a higher rate of all 3 non-communicable diseases than the other groups. The group of patients who used tobacco had a higher rate of hypertension and RLLPM than the group who did not use tobacco, and the group who abused alcohol had a higher rate of RLLPM and diabetes than the group who did not abuse.
