Abstract

Background: Arthroscopic surgery to suture the ACL attachment point was introduced in the 70s of the 20th century, contributing to reducing hospital stay and post-operative rehabilitation time, allowing patients to quickly return to normal activities than open surgery technique. The research was carried out to contribute to the evaluation of the results of treatment of ACL enlargement in Vietnam. Research subjects and methods: Retrospective and prospective descriptive study of 68 patients diagnosed with ACL attachment detachment and indicated for arthroscopic surgery to repair the ACL attachment at the Institute of Orthopedics and Traumatology, Viet Duc Hospital from January 2020 to April 2023. Results: 68 patients were studied with an average age of 26.34 ± 11.54 (10-59 years old), the most common age group is under 20 years old, accounting for 33.8%. The male/female ratio is 1/2.4. Traffic accidents are the main cause of injury, accounting for 76.5%. Most patients have surgery within 10 days of injury. The lesion morphology is mainly grade III according to the Meyers - Mckeever classification. Evaluation of postoperative knee joint mobility function according to the Lysholm and IKDC scales at 3 months and 6 months after surgery achieved good results in terms of range of motion, knee joint stability as well as the level of knee joint mobility after surgery all reached over 90%. Postoperative infectious complications requiring early suture removal occurred in 1 patient, accounting for 1.5%. Conclusion: arthroscopic surgery to fix the anterior cruciate ligament attachment point with super-strong thread is a minimally invasive surgery, helping patients shorten postoperative recovery time and return to normal activities sooner.
