THE CURRENT STATE OF SOCIAL ANXIETY DISODER IN THE FRIST-YEAR STUDENTS AT THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY IN 2023

Abstract

Objective: This study aims to describing the current state of social anxiety disoder in the frist-year students at Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy in 2023. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted 1019 the frist-year students at Thai Nguyen University of Medicine and Pharmacy from April 2023 to December 2023. Results: There are 35.7% of students have social anxiety disorder, of which 17.9% are moderate; marked level 12.3%; severe level 3.8% and very severe level 1.8%. Accoding to Liebowitz Social Anxiety Scale (LSAS): The highest score is 128, the average is 48,45 ± 19,6. The most anxious or fearful feeling in the situation are taking a test (43,7%) then Drinking with others (38,1%), meeting strangers (32,6%). The most situation avoided are drinking with others (57,7%), then meeting strangers (43,3%), trying to make someone's acquaintance for the purpose of a romantic relationship (33,6%). Conclusion: The rate of social anxiety disorder in first-year students is high at 35.7%. We need a plan to care for mental health for the frist-year students to reducing the propotion of social anxiety disorder.
