Abstract

Research on 76 stroke patients in 4 communes/wards in Nam Dinh city, Nam Dinh province with a cross-sectional survey method to describe the functional rehabilitation knowledge of stroke patients. According to the statistics, the number of patients had good knowledge about stroke rehabilitation account for only 13.2%. Whereas 53.9% had moderate knowledge and 32.9% had poor knowledge. The survey presents 72.4% of interviewed patients need to be provided with knowledge and guidance on stroke rehabilitation from medical staff. When it comes to assistance need, 67.1% of interviewees need psychological support; 47.9% need social support and 55.3% require communication support. Research shows that commune/ward health staff need to help stroke patients improve knowledge of rehabilitation, so that these patients become more persevering in rehabilitation exercises. Gradually they can become independent in life and reintegrate the community.
