Abstract

The cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 310 patients’ family members about nurses make rounds at the Department of Trauma Surgery, Thai Binh Children's Hospital in 2022. Results: 94% nurses visited daily room; 95% nurses wore regularly clean, neat clothes according to regulations; Nurses are often present in the patient room to solve unusual patient situations (85%); Nurses' examinations and asking about diseases of children were performed regularly (91%); Developments in children's illnesses were regularly detected and promptly treated by nurses (93%); Nurses regularly listened to comments from patients’ family members (91%). Nurses self-introduced their names to patients that was limited at only 26%; The content of making rounds was remain monotonous and the frequency of implementing regulations in making rounds wasn’t high such as: Consulting and guiding  patients’ family members about caring, nutrition, hygiene were 63%; Visiting, encouraging and comforting patients and their families were 62%; Instructions for providing utility services at the hospital were 68%; Instructions about monitoring and re-examine to children if necessary after discharging from hospital were 48%. The rate of satisfaction about making rounds of nurses was relatively high: 38% very satisfied, 43% satisfied.
