Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the results of the semi-rigid thoracoscopy to diagnose causes of exudative pleural effusion at Military Hospital 175. Subjects and methods: Descriptive, cross-sectional study on 42 exudative pleural effusion inpatients, treated at the Department of Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases, Military Hospital 175 from March 2021 to January 2024. Evaluate the diagnostic results of exudative pleural effusion and complications of the semi-rigid thoracoscopy technique. Results: The majority of patients had injury in pleural membrane (97.62%). The most common images are pleural infiltration (90.48%), followed by pleural congestion (73.81%). The proportion of scabrous tumour is only 7.14%. The rate of cancer metastases from the lung is the highest (71.43%), following by 11.9% of mesothelioma, and 2.38% of patients have pleural tuberculosis. Conclusions: Semi-rigid thoracoscopy has the high diagnostic effectiveness. This technique is safe.
