Abstract

Nutritional and puberty status of primary school children are assessed on weight, height and BMI for age. The indicators will present the child’s health issues and the child’s growth  beside that will have some influences for the child’s future stature. Objective: To describe the physical development characteristics and puberty of primary school children in Ba Vi. Results: This cross – sectional descriptive study on 1668  primary school student was selected  at  Ba Vi district. Weight for age of boy and girl are the same. The average height for age in group 8 year old and 9 year old among males is higher than females. The prevalence of wasting <-2SD was 12%. The prevalence of overweight and obesity males ( 6,9%: 1,6%) was higher than that of females (2,0 % và 0,3%). The average BMI of  Cam Thuong: Vat Lai: Van Thang was 16,3: 16,3: 15,9. The prevalence of precouse puberty girl, puberty state, and normal was 5,6%: 3,6%: 90,9%. Conclusion: The prevalence of wasting and stunting for age among gilds was higher than that of males. The prevalence of overweight and obese males was higher than that of girls. Precocious puberty status is still higher (5,6%)
