FACTORS RELATED TO NURSES’ PRACTICE IN PAIN MANAGEMENT FOR POST-OPERATIVE PATIENTS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Research objective: To assess the competence in postoperative pain management practice among nurses and its associated factors. Participants and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted using a structured questionnaire on 115 staff nurses in 07 surgical departments of Nguyen Dinh Chieu Hospital between November 2022 and October 2023. Results: The average score for pain management practice was 7.02 (out of a total of 12 points). Associated factors identified included the participation in training and workshops (p = 0.002), and the level of confidence in pain management practice among nurses (p = 0.046). Conclusions: Nurses’ competence in pain management practice for postoperative patients in this study was moderate and still needs improvement. Educational interventions might effectively enhance it. The active role and independent care function of nurses should be facilitated in healthcare settings.
