THE CURRENT SITUATION OF PRIMARY TOOTH DECAY AMONG 5TH GRADE STUDENTS IN HANOI

Abstract
Objective: Describe the current situation of primary tooth decay among 5th grade students. Subjects and methods: The cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 502 5th grade students (12 years old), studying at Primary School Kim Lien - Dong Da and Ly Thai To Primary School - Trung Hoa - Cau Giay - Hanoi. Results: The rate of primary tooth decay was 36.3%, in which the rate of primary tooth decay among male students was 38.9%, higher than that of female students which was 32.9%. dmft index = 1.16 ± 2.10, dmfs index = 1.54 ± 3.02. Conclusion: The rate of primary tooth decay in this study is 36,3%, which is at a high level. The dt and ds components account for the majority in the dmft and dmfs indexes, reflecting an insufficient level of attention to the state of primary tooth decay in this group of children
