Abstract

Objective: Evaluate the results of narrow-band UVB phototherapy in patients with moderate and severe psoriasis vulgaris, starting dose based on Fitzpatrick skin types. Subject and research methods: Clinical trial were conducted on 60 patients with moderate or severe psoriasis vulgaris aged 16 years and older, treated with narrow band ultraviolet rays (UVB-311nm),. First dose were based on the Fitzpatrick skin types. All patients were treated 2-3 times per week until reaching PASI75 or at the end of treatment 36th. Our study evaluated the decrease in PASI index before, during and after treatment. Result: At the end of our study, the results showed that the percentage reduction in the PASI was 64.9 ± 5.6. The rate of achieving PASI75 is 70% in the group of severe (21,43%)and moderate (78.57%) patients. The most common side effect is hyperpigmentation (95.1%). Conclusion: This study showed that NB-UVB 311 nm is a safe and effective method for moderate and severe psoriasis vulgaris.
