CLINICAL AND SUB-CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS AND CAUSES OF DEMAGIC ANEMIA IN PATIENTS UNDER TREATMENT AT THANH BA MEDICAL CENTER

Abstract

Objective: "Describe the clinical and paraclinical characteristics and causes of hypochromic anemia in patients treated at Thanh Ba Medical Center ". Subjects and methods: including hypochromic anemia patients examined and treated at Thanh Ba Medical Center from January 2022 to March 2024. Results: Clinical symptoms are common encountered: Pale skin and mucous membranes (76.8%), palpitations (57.1%), muscle and joint pain (42.8%), headache and dizziness (41.1%). The average value of RBC is 2.19 ± 0.78 T/L, of HGB is 83.77 ± 21.65 g/L, of MCV is 76.48 ± 9.86 fL. The degree of anemia was mild 57.1%, moderate 23.2% and severe 19.6%. 28.6% of cases of serum iron decreased < 11 μmol/l, low iron reserves accounted for 73.2%, depleted iron reserves accounted for 26.8%. The causes of anemia are duodenal ulcers accounting for 33.9%, hemorrhoids accounting for 39.3%, uterine fibroids accounting for 10.7%, hookworm accounting for 16.1%.
