THE VALUE OF COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY IN DIFFERENTIATING MALIGNANT AND BENIGN RENAL CYSTIC TUMORS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: This study aims to evaluate the differences in imaging characteristics between benign and malignant renal cystic tumors using computed tomography (CT) scans. . Methods: A descriptive study was conducted on 103 patients with renal cystic tumors who were admitted to Bình Dân Hospital for treatment. Results: Imaging features that are valuable in distinguishing between benign and malignant renal cystic tumors include the number of tumor septa, with a cutoff threshold of more than 4 septa, had a sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 70%, 94%, and 89.3%, respectively. Enhancing irregular walls or septa demonstrated sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 95.0%, 97.6%, and 97.1%, respectively. Enhancing nodule showed a sensitivity, specificity, and accuracy of 85.0%, 98.8%, and 96.1%, respectively. Conclusion: Differences in imaging characteristics, such as the number of septa, enhancing irregular wall or septa, and enhancing of nodule, have high value in distinguishing malignant from benign renal cystic tumors.
