Abstract
Objective: To describe the situation of mental health and sexual disorders in couples undergoing infertility treatment at National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology in 2024. Subjects and methodology: This is a cross-sectional descriptive study on 159 couples undergoing infertility treatment at National Center for Assisted Reproductive Technology, Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology from May to November 2024. DASS-21 questionnaires were utilized to assess mental health. To assess sexual disorders, the FSFI questionnaires were used for wives and PEDT, and IIEF for husbands. Results: The mean age of wives was 32.3±5.1 years old. The mean age of husbands was 35.8±5.8 years old. The proportion of wives showing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress was 24.5%, 13.8%, and 8.8%, respectively. The proportion of husbands with symptoms of anxiety, depression, and stress was 11.9%, 7.5%, and 3.8%, respectively. The proportion of females with sexual disorders was high at 57.9%. The proportion of husbands with erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation was 10,7% and 11.9%, respectively. Conclusion: Mental health problems such as anxiety, depression, and stress still account for a certain proportion of the population of infertile couples. The frequency of sexual disorders in women accounts for more than 50%; however, sexual disorders in husbands, such as erectile dysfunction and premature ejaculation, account for a lower proportion.
