Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study with 91 patients with wrist lesions on 1054 diabetic patients who visited the Department of General Internal Medicine, Hospital of Post and Telecommunications. Evaluation of wrist injury based on VAS pain score, BOSTON scale, carpal tunnel syndrome; assessment of damage to the long and short extensor of the thumb tendons, the flexor tendons and the median nerve by ultrasound. Results and Conclusion: The rate of wrist injury in patients with type 2 diabetes is 8.6%. The rate of injury to the anatomical structures of the wrist is: 70.3% damage to the flexor tendon; 60.4% injured the median nerve, 6.6% damaged joints, 2.2% damaged the long and short tendons. Clinical characteristics of hand and wrist injuries: Most of the patients had moderate pain intensity with 70.3%, followed by little pain with 12.1% and at least a lot of pain with 2.2%; average value of VAS scale is 3.76 ± 1.86; the degree of movement restriction, the BOSTON sensation reached the value of 1.34 ± 0.56; On ultrasound, 60.5% had damage to the median nerve with the average area: 11,487 ± 2,195 mm. The factors associated with wrist injury are glycemic control; HbA1c index; age, duration of disease, history of hypertension and overweight.
