Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To evaluate colonoscopic findings under anesthesia in patients aged 45–75 years and to determine the relationship between risk factors and histopathological results. Subjects and Methods: A prospective cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 201 individuals aged 45–75 who underwent colonoscopy under anesthesia at Vinmec Can Tho International Hospital. Results: The mean age of participants was 51.18 ± 3.62 years, with males accounting for 54.23%. Most participants were office workers or intellectuals (72.63%) and underwent colonoscopy as part of routine health check-ups (53.23%). Stool abnormalities were observed in 27.36% of cases, mainly changes in bowel frequency. The most common colonoscopic findings included hemorrhoids (78.61%), polyps (25.87%), and colitis (13.43%), while colorectal cancer accounted for 1.49% and normal findings only 3.48%. Age ≥60 and stool abnormalities were statistically significant factors associated with colorectal lesions (p<0.05). Conclusion: The study highlights the importance of screening colonoscopy in individuals aged ≥45, as it enables early detection of precancerous lesions, even in asymptomatic patients.
