Abstract

Objectives: To determine the prevalence of Human Papillomavirus infection, determining HPV type and determining the association between high-risk HPV infection and abnormal cervical cell lesions in women who had gynecological examination at K hospital. Subjects and methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 2194 patients who attended gynecological examination at K hospital from May 1, 2019 to March 30, 2020. Collect data through examination, patient interviews and test results from medical examination records. Results: There were 2194 patients tested for HPV with 295 positive cases, respectively 13.4%. The group of patients infected with 12 high-risk genotypes excluded type 16, type 18 was 72.9%, HPV16 alone was 13.6% and HPV18 alone was 7.1%. There is a close relationship between the risk of cervical cell abnormalities and cervical cancer risk with NCC HPV infection, especially HPV 16 and HPV 18 types (p<0.01). Conclusion: The prevalence of HPV in women who attended gynecological examination at K hospital was moderate. Determining the prevalence and genotype of HPV has a role in cervical cancer risk determination to guide prevention measures and vaccine research.
