IMAGING CHARACTERISTICS OF NASOPHARYNGEAL CANCER ON 1.5 TESLA MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING

Abstract

Purpose: To describe imaging characteristics of nasopharyngeal cancer on 1.5 tesla magnetic resonance imaging. Material and method: descriptive cross-sectional study on 32 patients with nasopharyngeal cancer admitted Hanoi oncology hospital. Result: The most frequent age range for patients is between 60 and 80 years old; male/female ratio is 3.6/1; Site of tumor on left lateral pharyngeal, The average tumor volume is 24,3±13,68cm3. On T2 weighted imaging   (T2W)  78.1% lesions showed hyperintensity and 81.2% lesions showed hypointensity on T1W, enhancement after dynamic contrast enhanced 93.8%. Node extension was observed in 27 patients (84.4%) enhancement after dynamic contrast enhanced 92.6%. Retropharyngeal nodes 37% and submandibular lymph node 29.6%
