RESULTS OF LAPAROSCOPIC COLECTOMY IN THE TREATMENT OF COLORECTAL CANCER AT NGHE FRIENDSHIP GENERAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

Research Objective: Laparoscopic for the treatment of colorectal cancer is increasingly being performed at hospitals across the country. This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of laparoscopic surgery in the treatment of colorectal cancer. Methods: A retrospective study was conducted on all colorectal cancer patients treated with laparoscopic from January 2020 to June 2025 at Nghe an Friendship General Hospital. Results: Include 152 patients, of which 89 are male and 63 are female, with an average age of 65.2 ± 13.89 (youngest age 24, oldest age 96). ASA 1 makes up the majority with a rate of 81.6%. The right colon is the most common site with 53.9%, the sigmoid colon is 23.0%, the left colon is 14.5%, and the transverse colon has the lowest rate at 8.6%. Surgical resection of the colon accounts for the majority at 53.9%. Postoperative stage I accounts for 11.8%, IIa 13.2%, IIb 39.5%; IIIa 28.3%; and IIIb 7.2%. The complication of surgical site infection 9.9%,  subcutaneous emphysema 0.7%, urinary retention 2.0%, anastomotic leakage 5.3%. There were no major complications requiring reoperation and no short-term mortality. The average length of hospital stay was 10.56 ± 3.46 days. The average tumor size was 4.3 ± 0.89 cm. The average number of harvested lymph nodes was 19.35 ± 4.95 nodes. The average recurrence time was 12.17 ± 5.71 months. The average survival time after surgery was 24.91 ± 13.11 months. Conclusion: Laparoscopic in the treatment of for colon cancer is safe and effective with a low complication rate and ensure cancer eradication
