DEVIATIONS OF AXIAL AND TILTED IMPLANTS IN DYNAMIC COMPUTER-ASSISTED IMPLANT SURGERY FOR FULL-ARCH FIXED PROSTHETIC REHABILITATION
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: To evaluate the deviation of axial and tilted implants placed using dynamic navigation for full-arch fixed prosthetic rehabilitation when bone-anchored fixation screws are used as reference markers in the edentulous jaw.
Materials and methods: This study assessed the deviation of 98 implants (38 axial implants and 60 tilted implants) placed in 16 patients (17 edentulous jaws) using a dynamic navigation system with bone-anchored fixation screws as reference markers. Implant deviation was evaluated using the following variables: angular deviation; global deviation at the implant neck and apex; and vertical deviation at the implant neck and apex, comparing the actual implant position with the planned position.
Results: For axial implants, the median [interquartile range] angular deviation was 2,20 [1,90; 2,73] degrees. The mean global deviation at the neck and apex was 0,98 ± 0,30 mm and 1,09 ± 0,33 mm, respectively. Vertical deviation at the neck and apex was 0,34 [−0,27; 0,80] mm and 0,34 [−0,27; 0,81] mm, respectively. For tilted implants, the median angular deviation was 2,05 [1,70; 2,58] degrees. The global deviation at the neck and apex was 1,11 ± 0,30 mm and 1,22 ± 0,42 mm, respectively. Vertical deviation at the neck and apex was 0,24 [−0,57; 0,72] mm and 0,26 [−0,57; 0,73] mm, respectively.
Conclusion: Implants placed using dynamic navigation for full-arch fixed prosthetic rehabilitation exhibit a certain degree of deviation, regardless of whether axial or tilted implants are used. However, these deviations remain within clinically acceptable limits.
