Abstract

Objective: To evaluate treatment outcomes and identify factors associated with the success of intrauterine insemination (IUI) in infertile couples at the Assisted Reproduction Center, Postal Hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study. Participants: A total of 338 IUI cycles performed at the Postal Hospital from 2021 to 2024. Results: The overall pregnancy rate was 19.5%, with a clinical pregnancy rate of 13%. The highest pregnancy rate was observed in women aged <25 years (31.7%), followed by those aged 25–29 years (22.0%), 30–34 years (16.3%), and >35 years (9.6%). Patients with ≥2 mature follicles achieved a pregnancy rate of 39.4%, nearly three times higher than those with a single follicle (14.7%). An endometrial thickness ≥14 mm was associated with a pregnancy rate of 50%, whereas the optimal range of 8–11.9 mm yielded a rate of 18.5%, and no pregnancies were recorded when endometrial thickness was <7 mm. Sperm quality played a decisive role, with pre-wash sperm concentration ≥16 million/mL and post-wash concentration ≥32 million/mL being strongly associated with successful conception. Conclusion: Younger patient age, optimized ovarian stimulation to achieve at least two mature follicles, and adequate post-wash sperm quality are key determinants in improving IUI success rates at the study center.
