Objectives: to describe working motivation of medical staff at the Internal Medicine Block of Kiên Giang Provincial General Hospital in 2020 and analyze some related factors. Methods: across-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 384 medical staff working at the internal medicine block of Kien Giang Provincial General hospital. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires. Results: The percentage of health workers with good working motivation was 72.9%. The highest motivation score was the achievement aspiration (average 4.03 points versus maximum 5 points) while the lowest motivation score was the recognition of achievement (3.76 points on average). Medical staff with university degree or higher and doctors had higher working motivation than the group with lower qualifications and the group of nurses and technicians with ORs of 4.8 and 3.03 respectively. The group of medical staff who were satisfied with their personal income had a significantly higher working motivation than the group of unsatisfied employees (OR= 3.11; p< 0.001). The group of medical staff satisfied with the working conditions had higher motivation to work than the group that was not satisfied (OR=6.59; p<0.001). The group of health workers who were satisfied with the management regime and policies had much higher working motivation than the group of unsatisfied health workers (OR=17.92; p<0.001). The group of health workers with a positive attitude towards (in favor of) management and supervision had higher motivation to work than the group of those with a negative attitude (OR=7.57; p<0.001). Conclusions: The percentage of employees with good working motivation is quite high (72.9%). Statistically significant factors associated with working motivation include: satisfaction with the hospital's management regime, positive attitude towards management, fulfillment of aspirations and personal interests (salary, bonus, studying tour and resort). Professional qualifications, occupation and positive attitude to prevention and control of Covid 19 are also related to medical staff’s motivation.
