BREAST RECONSTRUCTION WITH THE LATISSIMUS DORSI FLAP FOLLOWING BREAST-CONSERVATION SURGERY IN K HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: evaluate result of breast reconstruction with the latissimus dorsi flap following breast-conservation surgery in k hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional study based on 21 breast cancer patients undergoing breast reconstruction using the latissimus dorsi flap following breast-conservation surgery at the Breast surgery Department, K hospital from 2018 to 2021. Results: mean age was 39;the rate of upper outer quadrant tumor was 57.1%; the mean defect volume was 120.3 cm3; the average time of operation was 216 minutes, overall complication rate was 23.8%.Excellent, good and average cosmetic results were23.8%, 66.7% and 9.5%. Satisfaction rate was 80.9%. Conclusions: the research confirms the feasibility of the technique with an acceptable rate of complications and high rate of satisfaction.
