Abstract

Pain caused by spinal degeneration is one of the causes of sexual dysfunction in women. Spinal surgery is considered a solution to improve this condition. Therefore, we conducted a cross-sectional description study with the goal: to evaluate the sexual function after spinal surgery of female patients and some factors involved. 87 eligible patients agreed to participate in the study, the largest was 70 years old, the youngest was 18 years old, the average age was 57.97±1.43. After spinal surgery, patients had an improvement in sexual function, increasing the frequency of sex from 3.16 ± 3.07 to 5.2 ± 5.24 (once a month), pain relief after sex and decreased incidence of sexual dysfunction (according to CFSQ-14). The percentage of patients with postoperative sexual dysfunction was 66.7%. Age and stress had been linked to sexual dysfunction (p<0.05).
