Abstract

Objective: To evaluate the initial surgical treatment results with intraoperative untrasound for brain metastases. Marterials and methods: This prospective study performed on 10 patients admitted at Saint paul hospital between 12/2020 and 12/2021. Results: 7 males and 3 females, mean age 57.8 ± 9.8. 6 hemisphere, 4 posterior fossa. Solitary tumor: 7, bleeding in the tumor: 2. Tumor origin from lung 6, breast 3, other regions 1. Total resection: 7, residual tumor: 3. Clinical outcomes improved or unchanged in 9/10. 1 patient required ventriculocisternostomy shunt. Mean Karnofsky before and after surgery: 62 ± 9.2 and 77 ± 17 with p=0.0245. Conclusion: Surgical treatment of brain metastases with intraoperative ultrasound has high accuracy, increases the possibility of total tumoral resection, has good clinical and functional effect for the patient.
