FACTORY INFLUENCING ADHERENCE TO DIET AMONG TYPE 2 DIABETES MELLITUS PATIENTS AT HAI DUONG MEDICAL TECHNICAL UNIVERSITY

Abstract

Objectives: The aim of this study was to investigate factors influencing diet adherence among Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Patients (T2DM). Methodology: A correlational predictive study was designed. Data were collected from T2DM patients who followed up at an internal medicine clinic of Hai Duong medical technical university hospital (HMTU hospital) Results: Results from multiple logistic regression analysis revealed that the factors influencing diet adherence were dietary self-efficacy (OR=0.91, 95%CI=0.84-0.99, p-value=0.04) and monthly household income $200-400 (OR=2.99, 95%CI=1.12-7.93, p-value=0.02), and monthly household income >$400 (OR=3.03, 95%CI=1.08-8.47, p-value=0.03). Conclutions: The findings provide essential information for nurses and healthcare providers. Interventions to promote diet adherence in T2DM patients should focus on increasing dietary self-efficacy and integrating day-to-day management in their everyday lives considering household income.
