Abstract

Objective: Describe the clinical, subclinical characteristic and the results of subdural – extramedullary tumors sugery of thorac and lumber. Subjects and method: a prospective cross-sectional descriptive study on 41 patients operated subdural- extramedullary tumor of thorac and lumbar, operated Center for Neurosugery, Viet Duc hostital from January, 2020 to March, 2022 with pathology neurinoma and meningioma. Result: In our study, subdural – extramedullary tumor were usually found higher at the age 20 – 60 years old (56,5%), the average age 48,87 ± 17,67. The ratio of female and male vas 1,6. The most common type of tumor was neurinoma 71,8% and meningioma 28,2%. 66,7% of tumor were localized in thoracic spine, lumbar region 33,3%. The most frequent symptoms presenting were pain 66,7%, sensory syptoms 66,7%, motor defecits 43,6%. The most common features on magnetic resonance imaging was co-signal intensity on T1-weighted images 66,7%, high signal intensity T2 images 79,5%, signal hyperintensity after contrast administration 87,2%. General surgical outcomes: cured 59%, progessing well 38,5%, unchanged 0%, bad 2,6% and died 0%. Conclusion: Subdural – extramedullary tumor were often found in adult. Most of spinal tumors were nerinomas and localized higher at thoracic spine. Sugery had good result.
