COFFEE BEAN EXTRACT ON PREVENTING FROM THE OBESITY AND HYPERLIPIDEMIA IN RATS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To investigate effects of the green coffee bean extract (GCBE) on preventing from the obesity and hyperlipidemia in rats. Methods: 60 rats were feed by high-fat food and treated by saline, simvastatin 2mg/kg or GCBE at doses 200mg/kg, 300mg/kg and 400mg/kg in 8 continuous days. Changes in body weights, body mass index (BMI), serum concentrations of triglyceride and cholesterol were measured. Results: GCBE at dose 400mg/kg induced decreases in body weights and BMI of rats from the 6th to the 8th weeks (p<0,05). In group of rats treated GCBE at doses 300mg/kg and 400mg/kg, there were decreased in serum concentrations of triglyceride from the 4th to the 8th weeks in compared to the control group (p<0,05). However, a significant differences in serum concentrations of cholesterol between groups were not found (p<0,05). Conclusion: GCBE at doses 300mg/kg and 400mg/kg have good effects on preventing from obesity and hypertriglyceridemia in rats.
