THE EVALUATION OF FOOT AND ANKLE FUNTIONS AFTER HAVESTING ANTERIOR HALF OF THE PERONEUS LONGUS TENDON
Main Article Content
Abstract
Background: Anterior half of peroneal longus tendon autograft is currently used by many orthopedic surgeons in the reconstruction of the ligament generally and particularly in anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction, however, there are not many studies evaluating the function of foot and ankle joint after surgery using the anterior half of peroneal longus tendon. Objective: to evaluate the functional effects of the foot and ankle joint after havesting the anterior half of peroneal longus tendon. Methods: performed a descriptive cross-sectional study on patients with anterior cruciate ligament rupture who underwent arthroscopic surgery anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction using autologous anterior half of peroneal longus tendon. Results: The study on 31 patients with mean age was 29.26 ± 6.21 years old, the youngest was 19 years old, the highest was 40 years old, the ratio of male: female = 30 (96.8%) : 1 (3.2%), the mean postoperative follow-up time was 9.25 ± 2.25 months. The function of the foot and ankle joints according to the AOFAS scale before surgery is 97.19 ± 2.30 points, after surgery is 97.52 ± 1.67 points, there is no statistically significant difference with p = 0.161; The FADI score before surgery was 101.03 ± 2.60 points, after surgery 101.59 ± 2.04 points, no difference statistically significant with p = 0.103. Conclusion: The function of the foot and ankle joint did not change significantly after havesting the anterior half of peroneal longgus tendon.
