IMPACT OF COVID 19 TO MENTAL HEALTH OF HEALTH CARE WORKER IN SOME HOSPITALS IN HANOI IN 2021

Abstract

A cross sectional study was applied to the impact of the Covid 19 pandemic on the mental health of medical staff in 2021. The study aims to analyze factors related to the impact of Covid-19 on the mental health of medical staff. Face-to-face interviews were carried out to collect data from 470 subjects who are medical staff at diffirent hospitals in Hanoi. The impact of Event Scale – Revised was used to analyze how COVID 19 pandemic impact to mental health of the health care worker during the time of study. The result of the study showed that 9.8% of the subjects were having mental problems that need concern, while 23.2% of the medical staff were suffering from long-term mental issues and 1.5% of the total paticipants were diagnosed with stress. The average point of “Overreacting” towards Covid-19 is the highest (12,5 ± 9,1), followed by that of “Evasion” (5,0 ± 4,8) and “Obssesion” (4,1 ± 4,1). Medical staff, who are female having direct interactions with patients, female medical staff with low academic standard, who have direct interactions with patients and other staff and work long hours, were at a higher risk of being afflicted with mental issues than others. Vaccination will help to reduce the risk of having those mental problems.
