Abstract

Objective: Describe clinical and CT scanner presentations and assess the result of surgery for acute tramatic subdural hematomas in patients over 60 years of age. Patients and Methods: Cross-sectional study of 62 patients with acute tramatic subdural hematomas in patients over 60 years of age suffered from surgery in Viet Duc Hospital from 01/01/2021 to 31/12/2021. Results: The mean age at diagnosis was 67,7 ± 5,5. Male to female ratio: 1,86. The most common cause is due to accidents in daily life (51,6%). Clinical manifestations: Most patients had Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score of 9 – 12 points at admission. Hemiparesis (32,3%); dilated pupils (22,5%). CT scanner imaging: left-side subdural hematomas (53,2%), hematoma thickness from 11 – 15mm (50%). 100% midline shift > 5mm. Brain edema and disapeared basal cistern (4,8%). Most of my patients suffered from craniectomy (92%). Bad outcome accounts for 48,4%. Conclusions: The most common cause of acute tramatic subdural hematomas in patients over 60 years of age is due to accidents in daily life (51,6%). Most cases had craniectomy, accounting for 92%. Bad outcome (48,4%).
