Abstract

Objective: The relationship between plasma prolactin concentration and treatment results with Sertraline and Olanzapine in female depressed patients. Subjects and methods: 31 major depressive diseases were treated as inpatients at the Psychiatric Department, 103 Military Hospital from November 2021 to August 2022. Testing plasma prolactin levels by immunochemiluminescence. Result: There is a moderate positive correlation between the decrease in plasma prolactin concentration and Beck score. There is a relationship between plasma prolactin concentration at the time of treatment and the improvement of tardive motor symptoms. Plasma prolactin concentrations decreased more in the group of patients with improved attention compared with the group without improvement. Decreased plasma prolactin levels were not associated with suicidal ideation and behavior. Conclusion: There is a relationship between plasma prolactin levels and treatment outcomes with Sertraline and Olanzapine in female depressed patients as demonstrated by the change in clinical symptoms and Beck score in female depressed patients.
