SURVEY OF SKIN TEST IN PATIENTS INDICATIONS FOR GENERAL ANESTHETICS, LOCAL ANESTHETICS
Main Article Content
Abstract
Objectives: 1. Comment on skin test results on patients using general anesthetics and local anesthetics. 2. Learn about some related factors in patients with positive skin test for general anesthetics and local anesthetics. Subjects and Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study on 62 patients who were sent for examination and skin testing at the Department of Allergy, Immunology and Dermatology at E Hanoi Hospital from July 2021 to August 2022. Results: The average age of the study group was 34.76 ± 9.20, the oldest patient participating in the study was 70, the youngest was 23. In the study group with history of using general anesthetics, local anesthesia accounted for the proportion rate 74.20%; in which the rate of using local anesthetic drugs accounted for 43%, used general anesthetics accounted for 35%, used both types accounted for 22%. Patients participating in the study, the most common history of allergic disease was urticaria, angioedema with 33 cases, accounting for 45.83%; the least common history of allergic disease in the study group was atopic dermatitis with 3 cases, accounting for 4.16%. Most of the skin prick tests on the study group were negative, accounting for 98.40%; while the negative and positive rates in the endodermal test group were 42% and 58%, respectively. During the skin test and follow-up after testing the patient was safe, no special clinical manifestations occurred. Positive skin test results were common in the group with a history of urticaria, angioedema and allergic rhinitis, with 21 and 19 cases accounting for 43.75% and 39.58%, respectively; least common in the group with a history of atopic dermatitis, there was 1 case, accounting for 2.08%; there was no difference between the group of patients with a history of allergic disease and skin test results with p > 0.05. The cases of negative skin test did not show any abnormal clinical symptoms, only 2 cases with positive skin test showed abnormal symptoms after using general anesthetics and local anesthetics; but there was no difference between the skin test results and clinical symptoms after the patient was administered anesthetics and anesthetics with p = 0.51. Conclutions: Skin testing with general anaesthesia, local anathesia is a safe test technique, even in pregnant women, and carries a high risk of hypersensitivity reactions. All cases of negative skin test did not show any abnormal clinical symptoms after using anesthetics and anesthetics during and after surgery and procedures.
