Abstract

Objectives: Describe some characteristics of patients undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF); evaluate the live - birth rate after IVF at the National Hospital of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Methodology: Cross-sectional descriptive retrospective. Results: The mean age of women was 31.29±5.36 years; the age group before 35 accounts for the majority (69.7%). The average duration of infertility was 4.26±3.19 years; Duration of infertility ≤ 5 years accounts for the majority (72.5%). After IVF, the live - birth rate is 40.3%; the live- birth rate of frozen embryo transfer was 2,459 times higher than that of fresh embryo transfer. The difference was statistically significant (p=0.00 <0.05; OR=2.459; 95%CI; 1.579-3.819). Conclusion: Among IVF patients, the age group before 35 years and duration of infertility time ≤ 5 years accounts for the majority. The live – birth rate was 40.3% and and there was a correlation between the live birth rate and the type of embryo transferred to the uterus (p<0.05).
