Abstract

Objectives: To study the acute toxicity of Stahlianthus thorelii Gagnep and evaluate the effects of Stahlianthus thorelii Gagnep on factors: platelet-coagulation, PT, aPTT, and Fibrinogen in experimental animals. Subjects and methods: The study was conducted using cross-sectional method on 80 Swiss white mice. To evaluate the acute toxicity of Stahlianthus thorelii Gagnep by orally Litchfeild - Wilcoxon method. To evaluate hemostatic effects on white mice according to the guidance of the World Health Organization. Result: The LD50 acute toxicity of orally Stahlianthus thorelii Gagnep on white mice cannot be determined when giving them the Stahlianthus thorelii Gagnep liquid extraction with gradually increasing doses: 14g/kg x 2 times/day, 16g/kg x 2 times/day, 18g/kg x 2 times/day, 20g/kg x 2 times/day. After 5 days, the mice will be given Stahlianthus thorelii Gagnep at a dose of 1.2g/10ml and 0.2ml for 2.4g/10ml and batch 1: Without Stahlianthus thorelii Gagnep. The bleeding time of the low and high dose batch were 138,7 ± 43,3  and 140,9 ± 43,9  respectively compared with the batch 1 was 178,4 ± 32,6 (P <0.05). The platelet index of the low and high dose batch were 891,92 ± 122,56 and 904,61 ± 117,63  compared with the batch 1 was 818,96 ± 122,79 (P> 0.05). PT of the low- and high-dose batch were 8,98 ± 1,48  and 9,21 ± 1,17  compared to the batch 1 was 8.15  1.31 (P> 0.05). The APTT of the low and high dose batch were 3,35 ± 0,82  and 3,52 ± 0,71  compared to the batch 1 was 3,16 ± 0,68 (P> 0.05). Fibrinogen of low- and high-dose batch were 3,46 ± 0,79  and 3,69 ± 0,71 compared to the batch  1 of 3,15 ± 0,57 (P> 0.05). Conclude: The experimrnt shows that Stahlianthus thorelii Gagnep is not toxic to the white mice. Investigation of the effect of Stahlianthus thorelii Gagnep on hemostatic factors: Although reduced bleeding time has a clinical hemostasis effect, Stahlianthus thorelii Gagnep has not had much effect on platelet count and other indicators. coagulation: PT, APTT, Fibrinogen in experimental animals.
