DEPRESSION STATUS OF PATIENTS BEFORE AND AFTER SURGERY AT VINMEC TIMES CITY INTERNATIONAL GENERAL HOSPITAL IN 2022 AND SOME RELATED FACTORS

Abstract
Background: Surgery is one of the most important treatment methods for diseases. The simple or complex surgery makes patients and their family feel stress, anxiety and depression. Objectives: Determining the depression status of patients before and after surgery at Vinmec Times City International General Hospital in 2022 and some related factors. Methods: Cross-sectional survey, quantitative research. Results: The study collected information from 400 patients before and after surgery at Vinmec Times City International General Hospital through questionnaire. The study results showed that, the rate of patients feeling stressed before surgery was 1,5%, and after surgery was 0,5%. Three factors related to patient’s depression include: economic dependence, employment and patient’s knowledge about surgery (p<0,05).
