SURVEY RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN RNFL THICKNESS AND VISUAL FIELD DEFECTS IN GLAUCOMA PRIMARY
Main Article Content
Abstract
Purpose: Analyze relationship between RNFL thiknesss and visual field defects in glaucoma primary. Materials and methods: The study was conducted on a data file of 106 patients (189 eyes) who were diagnosed with glaucoma primary in Central Eye Hospital from August 2022 to August 2023. Results: There was a statistically significant correlation between the visual field indices and RNFL thickness. There was a positive correlated between MD and inferior, superior, average RNFL thickness and MD (r= 0,65; r= 0,57; r= 0,61, p< 0,001 respectively), VFI (r= 0,61, r= 0,5, r= 0,55, p< 0,001 respectively) and a negative correlated PSD (r= -0,7, r= -0,55, r= -0,63, p< 0,001 respectively). Conclusion: The decrease of inferior, superior, average RNFL thickness have a close correlation to visual field defects in the glaucomatous eyes. There for, the analysis of visual field indicies and measurement of average, superior and inferior quarant RNFL thikness by OCT are useful in diagnosis, follow up and prognosis of glaucoma.
