Abstract

Background: Antibiotic use awareness makes a fundamental contribution to protecting users from antibiotic abuse, helping to limit antibiotic resistance. Objective:  Survey knowledge, attitude and practice of students of Vinh Medical University on antibiotic use. Materials and method: All students study Medicine and Pharmacy at Vinh Medical University; cross-sectional descriptive studies. Results: 48.1% of students have voluntarily used antibiotics in the past 1 year; 99.22% of students had heard of antibiotics; The main source of information about antibiotics is through the media (75.83%); 99.01% of students take antibiotics according to doctor's prescription; 95.29% of students have the attitude of going to the doctor for an appropriate prescription; 88.6% of students fully complied with their doctor's treatment instructions. There 90.64% of students used boiled water/cooled boiled water to take medicine, and 80.3% stopped using antibiotics when completing the doctor's instructions and treatment instructions. Conclusion: Students of Vinh Medical University have a high level of knowledge and practice on antibiotic use. Armed with knowledge about antibiotic use, students will have a positive attitude, practice, and awareness in complying with the principle of higher antibiotic use.
