ASSESSMENT OF PRESCRIPTION OF GLUCOCORTICOID IN THE OUTPATIENT DEPARTMENT OF BUON MA THUOT MEDICAL UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL IN 2022

Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to assess the prescription of glucocorticoid (GC) in the outpatient deparment of Buon Ma Thuot Medical University Hospital and record drug – drug interaction on clinical practice. Method: A cross – sectional study was used to assess the prescriprion of glucocorticoid in the outpatient department of Buon Ma Thuot Medical University from 1/11 to 1/12/2022. There included 1.690 prescriptions in a study. Results: The disease most indicated for GC is the upper respiratory tract disease (45.15%); There were 12 GC included. Among these, methylprednisolone was the most commonly prescription (43.60%), followd by prednisone (15.86%) and budesonide (14.30%); The routes of administration of GC: oral (59.46%), spray (21.72%), inhaled (0.22%), topical (8.49%), eye drop/ ointment (9.9%), injection (0.21%). Dosage form of GC: tablet (59,46%), suspension (21.71%), solution (10.16%), cream (8.27%), powder (0.21%), ointment (0.16%). The highest specialty prescribe GC is otorhinolaryngology (37.75%), và the lowest is surgery (7.28%). The highest rate of GC per prescription was 1 drug (89.94%), followed by 2 drugs (10.06%). The most commonly used combination drug in supporting gastrointestinal risk reduction is the proton pump inhibitor group (62.31%). There were 202 prescription appeared drug – drug interactions included systemic GC which were recorded in 2 sources. Among those, there were 129 prescriptions included drug in supporting gastrointestinal risk reduction.
