CLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS IN POSTMENOPAUSAL WOMEN WITH METABOLIC SYNDROME UNDER 60 YEARS OLD AT THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL

Abstract

Objective: To study clinical characteristics in postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome under 60 years old at Thai Nguyen National Hospital. Methods: A cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 155 postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome under 60 years old, the study period was from July 2022 to April 2023. Results: Mean age was 56.1±4.4, menstruating age was 16.7±0.9, menopause age was 49.0±3.1. The mean years of menopause were 7.1±4.0 (years); 87.1% are aged between 50-60. The major histories were hypertension (83.9%), dyslipidemia (58.1%) and diabetes mellitus (48.4%). Average BMI was 23.7±3.4 kg/m2; average waist circumference was 85.9±8.2 (cm); average butt circumference was 92.3±7.6 (cm); BMI ≥ 23 kg/m2 accounts for the majority (54.8%). The ratio of waist/butt circumference ≥0.85 accounted for the majority of 96.8%. Systolic blood pressure 163.7±20.3 (mmHg); Diastolic blood pressure 89.7±8.6 (mmHg). The proportion of patients with systolic blood pressure ≥130 (mmHg) was 100%; the majority of patients with diastolic blood pressure ≥85 (mmHg) accounted for 71.0%. Conclusion: The age of menopause of postmenopausal women with metabolic syndrome is 56.1±4.4, all postmenopausal women in the study have increased systolic blood pressure, mass index of majority of the body is overweight (54.8%).
