Main Article Content
Abstract
Objective: To assess the anthropometric status and some related factors of infants age from 6 to 11 months old, in 10 communes of Quang Xuong district, Thanh Hoa province. Method: A cross-sectional study, randomly selected 360 infants from 10 communes. Results: The average length of infants is 67.36 ± 2.55(cm); average weight 7.68 ± 0.86 (kg); HAZ -0.89 ± 1.17; WAZ -0.61±1.06; WHZ -0.09 ± 1.12. The prevalence of stunting was 17.8%, underweight was 9.2%, and wasting was 4.2%. Multivariate regression analysis predicts some factors related to stunting malnutrition, infants at the age group of 7-11 months (OR = 3.71; 95% CI: 1.67 – 8.22), group of infants suffered from diarrhea in the past two weeks(OR = 3.67; 95% CI: 1.50 – 8.97), group of mothers who did not supplement with micronutrients during pregnancy (OR = 2.55; 95% CI: 1.09 – 6.01), group of low total family income (OR = 7,00; 95% CI: 13,16 – 15,52) had a higher rate of stunted children than the other group, p < 0.05. Conclusion: It is necessary to actively implement nutritional interventions such as nutritional communication and education for mothers during pregnancy and infant rearing, and timely supplementation of micronutrients to prevent stunting in the first 1000 days of life and create a premise for children to develop well into adulthood.
