KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES AND BEHAVIORS OF CERVICAL CANCER PREVENTION OF BACHELOR OF NURSING STUDENTS OF PHAM NGOC THACH UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE

Abstract
Objectives: To assess knowledge, attitudes and behaviors of cervical cancer prevention among bachelor of nursing students at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine in 2023. Methods: A cross- sectional study, conducted on 393 female nursing students from year 1 to year 4 at Pham Ngoc Thach University of Medicine in 2023 by using a questionnaire. Results: The percentage of students with the correct knowledge, positive attitudes and correct behaviors about cervical cancer prevention is 26.7%; 83% and 15.8% respectively. The 3rd year students have better knowledge and behaviors than other years and there is no difference in attitudes about cervical cancer prevention among nursing students over the years. In our study, there is relationship between knowledge and behaviors to prevent this disease. Conclusions and recommendations: The rate of correct knowledge and behaviors about cervical cancer prevention among female nursing students is relatively low but positive attitudes is pretty quite high. It is necessary to strengthen health communication and education about cervical cancer, vaccination against HPV and routine cervical screening
