ASSESSMENT OF THE RESULTS IN PATIENTS WITH GREAT SAPHENOUS INSUFFICIENCY BY ENDOVASCULAR LASER AT CARDIOVASCULAR CENTER, PHU THO GENERAL HOSPITAL 2022 - 2023

Abstract
Objective: To evaluate some changes of clinical features and Doppler ultrasound images after treatment in patients with chronic great saphenous insufficiency. Methods: a cross-sectional descriptive, prospective study on 55 patients (60 legs) with chronic great saphenous insufficiency, treated with endovascular laser at cardiovascular center, Phu Tho Provincial General Hospital from July 2022 to May 2023. Results: after treatment, the symptoms of leg heaviness, burning calves, itching, cramps, edema and pigmentation disorders were significantly reduced after 7 days and 1 month, p < 0.05. After 1 month, grade C3 decreased from 45% to 10%; C4 decreased from 18.3% to 8.3%; p < 0.05. The diameter of the great saphenous vein above the knee decreased from 7.7 ± 0.78 mm to 4.1 ± 0.85 mm after 7 days and 2.0 ± 0.49 mm after 1 month; the below knee segment decreased from 7.5 ± 0.8 mm to 3.9 ± 0.9 mm after 7 days and 1.77 ± 0.5 mm after 1 month; p < 0.05. 100% of patients no longer have reflux duration after 7 days and 1 month of treatment, p < 0.05. Conclusion: Treatment by intravascular laser in chronic great saphenous insufficiency decreased significantly clinical symptoms, venous diameter and reflux duration on Doppler ultrasound.
