Abstract
Objective: evaluate the results of endoscopic transsphenoidal surgery (ETS) for pituitary tumor with Neuronavigation. Patient: 34 consecutives patients underwent ETS for removal of pituitary tumor in Ha Noi Medical University Hospital. Research method: descriptive prospective study. Results: 12 male, 22 female patients, mean age of 42 years. The serie of 34 case reported 30 pituitary adenomas, 2 craniopharyngioma. Common signs: 76,5% headache, 61,8% vision loss, 14,7% increasing lactiferous occupation, 2,9% without menstruation. The average time for setting up the system was 11 min ± 4, which included head fixation, headset positioning, registration, calibration and verification of the system. The system accuracy (root mean square), calculated by the computer automatically, showed a mean value of 0.7 ± 0.2 mm. With the guidance of the navigation system, the ostium, sellar floor and adjacent structures encountered during EPS could be identified easily. Complication: intraoperative 8,8% hemorrhage, 20,6% CSF leak. No morbitity, no postoperative CSF leaks. Conclusions: ETS for pituitary tumor is minimal invasive, effective, los rhinological sequelae.
