Abstract

Lung-RADS classification on chest computed tomography aids in stratifying the risk of cancer with lung nodules. Objective: Describe the clinical characteristics, chest computed tomography images and histopathological results of lung nodules classified as Lung-RADs 4. Research subjects and methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study was conducted on 104 patients with lung nodules classified Lung-RADs 4 who underwent transthoracic needle biopsy. Results: Lung nodules are most common in the right upper lobe with a rate of 43,3%; nodules size ≥15 mm account for 76%; nodules < 15 mm account for 24%; solid nodules account for 92,3% and semi-solid nodules account for 7,7%; malignant and benign histopathology was 66% and 34%. Conclusion: Common computed tomography imaging features in malignant lung nodules are size ≥ 15mm, irregular borders and solid nodules. The rate of malignant nodules gradually increases according to the cancer risk of the Lung-RADS classification (2019).
